Jeanne Zinser (Gottschalk)

Back in 1968, my husband and I dragged a 16 ft. Mallard travel trailer out West on the trip to Hell and back (that's another very long story). Every time we go on a trip, either in the states or world-wide (and we've been to a lot of the world), I always half-kiddingly say to Robert, "I have a feeling we're going to see someone we know." Often times, I have been right, including in the blistering hot summer of 1968. We had just entered a campground at Yellowstone, unhitched the trailer, and were about to get in our car when I uttered those prophetic words. After my husband responded with his usual "Oh, sure!"...whom do I see bicycling towards us with her husband but Mrs. Wallschlaeger! They slowed down as they got nearer to us, and then stopped. She said, "Jeanne Zinser! I thought that was you!" I was amazed that she recognized and remembered me! We chatted for several minutes, catching up a bit, and then they took off on their bikes. That was the last time I saw her. She was a wonderful, thoughtful lady, adviser to the National Honor Society, and helpful in so many ways. I was sad to read her obituary today, but at 88, I'm sure she had a rich, fulfilling life!
