This message forum is an ongoing discussion about anything and just about everything ... within reason.  One thing our class was good at was having opinions.  Almost 70 years of life experience certainly qualifies us as experts on most everything!   Ask a question ... give an opinion ... share some insights ... it's our web site, it's our forum.  That said, it's probably not a good idea to get into arguments about politics, religion, and the like.  While we're experts on everything, we also have a wide range of values and beliefs. This site belongs to all of us ... the whole range ... and we are not here to isolate, alienate, or subjugate anybody.  Of course insults, humiliation, sophomoric barraggadocio, and demented humor is expected behavior among some of us less mature people.

By the way, I forgot to admit my fav (and still is) turn it up rock and roll group is the We Five.

When we lived in Chilton, WI there was a local, really local, radio station that only played polka and country music. They swore they had a study from UW Ag School that proved cows gave better milk listing to polkas and country, and they were supporting the farmers.

If you've noticed that Nancy's and my pictures are suddenly missing, don't worry. As soon as the people in Witness Protection get us our new ones, we'll post them.

Isn't anyone going to admit to being an Elvis Presley fan???

I LOVE Elvis!!!  My favorite song is "Are You Lonesome Tonight?", followed by my second favorite, "In The Getto".  All of his music is stored on my hard drive so I can enjoy it whenever.  I have always enjoyed Broadway tunes from some of the greatest musical ever produced.  "My Fair Lady" is a personal favorite.  And...anything by my Barbra S., all of her albumns are also on my hard drive.  Music has always been an important part of my life, my name says it all!!!   LOL!

Love Elvis!  And I can still remember seeing him on Ed Sullivan.  I feel so old - being there at the birth of rock & roll!

Sure am enjoying reading all the posts while I'm recovering from the back surgery.  Recovery is going well but not as fast as I was hoping.

It WOULD be good to have a "like" button for the posts.

No "like" button for posts on this page Barbara!!!  I might be voted off the island!!!

And speaking of Elvis, I hate all Elvis impersonators but have you seen this kid from Quebec ... French-speaking Quebec, David Thibault?  Check him out on the Ellen Show recently:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdg8K89Zq1I

And finally, the issue of Master photos appearing and disappearing has to do with our vendor's implementation of a new Profile generator that is more compatible with iPads.  I live 4 minutes from Apple's HQ and I am once again going to go over there and protest that I have to be inconvenienced to accommodate Apple users!

I disagree, however, about blaming it all on Apple users, of which I am one. But, laptop only. None of that iPad, iPod, can't live without a finger on the button stuff. I still believe that if I want to make a phone call, I use a phone, if I want to take a picture, I use a camera. I still know how to use a map. If I want to meet someone, we plan ahead, set a time and place, and be there. There's still somehing about nice about 'feeling' the presence of the actual biological person I'm talking to, or to be with friends and relatives instead of seeing them only on a screen. I also still appreciate some times of quiet, don't have to be talking, chatting, whatevering, incessantly.

Dinosaurs forever ! !

Many times, especially when reading some of Jim's commentary, I've wished there was a 'like' button. Haven't seen a need for a 'dislike' button here, but I surely wish there was one on Facebook where some posts get pretty rude and/or nasty at times.

WOW, Garry - I listened to the kid from Quebec.  At first I thought he must be lip-syncing - could close the eyes & swear that it was Elvis singing!  Ellen sure did give him a wonderful treat.  I'd like to see Graceland.

Jim, I'm a dinosauer also - my grandgirls love to tease me but I don't care.

Just listened to the "Elvis Channeler" David Thibault from Quebec. On the video from Ellen, I think she was standing behind him to see if the ghost of Elvis was there! He is amazing, and seems like a sweet kid, too. Garry I think, all things considered, Apple users have been WAY more inconvienced than PC users. For years, I could never find software that would run on Apple. Jon, in his early computer days went through one PC after another. Couldn't go even a year without some catastrophe. He is at last a happy trouble-free Apple convert!

I was listening to an oldies station this afternoon, hits of the 60s-80s, and they played some song, I'd guess mid-late 60ish, but I didn't get the group or the name of the song. The song was about love lasting 'until the end of time', etc, and one line of the lyrics said something about love lasting until the rain stopped falling from the skies. If that song was prophetic, and if people now live in California, there's gonna be a whole lot of good relationships going down the [low-flow] toilet right about now.

"Master Photos"  Yup ... just as I suspected ... according to Class Creators the photo editing had to be changed because iPads are not compatible with Adobe's Flash player.  I'll bet that this goes back to the personal feud between Steve Jobs and Adobe.  Jobs refused to recognize them and their Flash player.  I think at one point there were lawsuits and countersuits ... all of which amounted to nothing.  Some of it is sooo  juvenile.  If you want to get your "Master Photos" down in size to where it was, you'll need to do it in a photo editor prior to uploading.  They say to get the photo size down to 300 X 400 and then do the upload.  Apparently this isn't a high priority for Class Creators.

Terri Levenhagen (Hoornstra)

My friends in the technology industry (who have never worked for Apple) say that Jobs didn't like Adobe Flash because he didn't feel it was secure, and didn't want Apple products to be as vulnerable to viruses as the PCs have been. And for a long time, they were relatively virus free; but now, with Apple's popularity, the Evil Mal People have put all their devious resources to work inventing special viruses just for Apples.

Terri, thanks to you [and Jon] for the Apple redemption. It's about time us Apple users came out of the closet. Apple Power! - and Garry can keep all those others with names no one ever heard of, or probably won't in another year or so anyway.

The best endorsement of Apple I ever heard was one day when Microsoft was coming out with its new fantastic operating system, i.e. Windows 95. Mr Gates was on something on TV, maybe CNN, and telling the world how wonderful Windows was going to be, with WYSIWG, icons, drag and drop, all those goodies. The announcer who was interviewing him [Sounded like a Garry clone, but this guy was good looking], at the end of Mr Gates embellishments, asked Gates, "In other words Mr. Gates, you're saying Windows 95 is going to be just like Macintosh 1?" Gates, without hesitating, said "Yes, that's about it." It appears he knew a good thing when he saw it too.

Count me among those who proclaim APPLE POWER. I've been loudly singing ('cause that's what I do best!) the praises of Apple/Mac for MANY years and have been successful in converting quite a few friends to come out of the PC muck and mire. Guess you could call me an Apple missionary!

Ahhhhh!  You have all the way until Sunday to enjoy the heat of the teens and twenties before you go subzero again!  It's almost  warm enough to go ice fishing!!!

Lauren Dieterich

Gary,  you're starting a heat wave. But, here in Bullhead City; we're starting a cold wave. The next week, it's only going to be in the low 60's; although, yesterday the high was 76. The average for the end of January is the upper 60's. Seriously, though; I don't evy any of you who still live in the northern states. I can't handle the cold, anymore. And, as for snow; all I ever did was drive in it and shovel it; so, I don't miss it.

Taking a poll. What to watch on Sunday. The Super Bowl? The Puppy Bowl?

Lauren,

You're right. Wisconsin had two seasons, snow shoveling and lawn mowing. One of those 'gotta dos' was always just waiting to spoil whatever I had planned.

O.K. old folks--Last week our little bar on the lake held a contest for all patrons who were present. They gave you 15 minutes to write down 5 songs from the 60's that had either Mr. or Mrs. in the title. The winner would get $100.  There was no winner & to this day I cannot find 5.

Gary--

Kinda close--HOWEVER--Mr. Sandman released in 1954. Mr Big Stuff released in 1971. Mr Lee released in 1950's also. I gotta keep your money for a while.

You beat me to the punch! I was just going to inform Disc Jockey Sellers of the same thing!

So, you're going to "card" me ... check if I'm the right age?  I got into Wylers okay!  Hey, I got within a decade.  And I'll bet if I search hard enough I could find  somebody who "re-released" them in the '60's.  I suspect the fix is in and the classical singer lady is getting the cash ... right Jeanne?  You always liked her best Ray!
WAIT!!!!  OMG ...  "Mr. Custer" ... how could we forget that one?!!!!  That one WAS 1960!  And the clincher for all the money.... "Please Mr. Postman", The Marvelettes - 1961!!!  I prefer 10's and 20's Ray.
