This message forum is an ongoing discussion about anything and just about everything ... within reason.  One thing our class was good at was having opinions.  Almost 70 years of life experience certainly qualifies us as experts on most everything!   Ask a question ... give an opinion ... share some insights ... it's our web site, it's our forum.  That said, it's probably not a good idea to get into arguments about politics, religion, and the like.  While we're experts on everything, we also have a wide range of values and beliefs. This site belongs to all of us ... the whole range ... and we are not here to isolate, alienate, or subjugate anybody.  Of course insults, humiliation, sophomoric barraggadocio, and demented humor is expected behavior among some of us less mature people.

A big congratulations Barbara! Boy, do I also know how hard it is to shed weight at this age. I was just looking at a photo of Janie Bednarz and myself at graduation and we are as thin as pencils. I am resigned to never being that weight again. Maybe the reason I was as thin as a pencil was because for some reason I  don't remember any of those eatieries you're all talking about - the garlic bread with real butter does ring a bell.  But I do remember going to the custard stand near 51st and Hampton,  a few blocks from my house. Do I remember its name? Of course not. I'll ask my younger brother and sister. Garry, can I hitch a ride with you to Mwkee for Tuesday night?

Okay, who has it????

"Tonight You Belong to Me"

I know (I know)
You belong to somebody new
But Tonight you belong to me
Although (although) we're apart
Your part of my heart
And tonight you belong to me

Way down by the stream
How sweet it will seem
Once more just to dream
In the moonlight
My honey I know (I know)
With the dawn that you will be gone
But tonight you belong to me

Way down, way down along the stream
How very, very sweet it will seem
Once more just to dream
In the silvery moonlight
My honey, I know (I know)
With the dawn that you will be gone
But tonight you belong to me
Just to little old me

This is probably sick, odd, strange, weird, whatever, but I could sing that whole song ("Tonight You Belong To Me") without looking at the words! I know...I need professional help! Actually, I already get that, so now what?!

07/09/12 05:44 PM #154

Terri Levenhagen (Hoornstra)

No Jeanne, not sick - I could also sing it right now! And the Everly Bros. All I Have to Do is Dream. In harmony!

Angela Campagna (Friday)

Hi guys!  I'm a newby -  just signed up on this website-due to the encourgement of Marilyn G.- and  am having a blast!  Question: does anyone know who gave me ex-lax prior to descending down the hill sledding(or was that in grade school??) Ha!  What a trip that was!

07/09/12 07:53 PM #156

Terri Levenhagen (Hoornstra)

Not I, Angie!!!!

How about a group to perform those songs at the reunion. Anybody in???? Marilyn??

07/09/12 09:32 PM #157

Marilyn Griffith (Bauer)

I know nothing, but the ex-lax was high school. What a terrible trick angry

May need the original chorus for "Tonight You Belong to Me."  Who's game?

Someone help me out with this memory - 'the newspaper drive, new homecoming crown and pigging out on junk food caper."

Kenneth Pallaske

Sandy Wachs (Oldham)

Garry---loved how you posted that song.  Can't sing it, but great for old folks to tap dance to. cool  Maybe I can use it for my Hoofers.  'Our' music was fun, but so simple.  I have to admit I do like the music now--except for rap!

Ken--I picked the same smiley face!

Terri Levenhagen (Hoornstra)

Thanks for posting "the song"'' Garry! It was amazing to sing along with it again. My sister has our family's version, and it is a 45. Now I can start practicing to audition for the Custer Bike Chicks. Marilyn, should I bring my leather jacket to the reunion?

Marilyn Griffith (Bauer)

Custer Bicycle Chicks!

07/11/12 05:44 PM #163

Meribeth Hodges (Engelfried)

I want to be a bicycle chick.

07/11/12 06:44 PM #164

Marilyn Griffith (Bauer)

You can be Bicycle Chick Queen!!

07/11/12 07:18 PM #165

Jeanne Zinser (Gottschalk)

I'd give anything to see and hear the CHICKS!

07/11/12 07:37 PM #166

Terri Levenhagen (Hoornstra)

Jeanne, the Chicks will seriously miss your nice singing voice! On another note - are we getting a reprise of "Poison Ivy" from the guys who did it at Custer? Gordy, were you in that group? I can't remember!

Patricia McCarthy (McCarthy)

OK Terri, my computer has been having a tantrum for a few days, but I just now saw the picture of Mr. Hagopian's homeroom....Boy, those are NOT the happiest looking faces ever. I was amazed how many  I recognized!! but, all ya'll, look MOST serious.

Garry, I thought the custard stand kitty cornered from Carlton was Doege's...but I was wrong. Gordy's right. Then, where WAS Doege's? I am sooooo looking forward to frozen custard. I have to drive 20 miles to the Culver's in San Antonio.  (Actually, it's better it ISN'T closer!)

07/12/12 12:15 PM #168

Barbara Blair (Brenzel)

Food AGAIN!!  Oh, do I miss the days when I could eat & eat & not gain an ounce!

07/12/12 02:10 PM #169

Sandy Wachs (Oldham)

Doege's custard stand was on Teutonia, North of Capitol Drive.  After work out at the Turner Hall downtown, Marlene and I would take the 'street car' to her family's custard stand.  We would enjoy our hot fudge sundaes while we waited for her Dad to close up and drive us home.  It was a fun wait!

I vote for bike chicks.  More fun, and easier on the knees at our age.  Merebeth is the queen, who gets all of her 'subject's into trouble.  Always her ideas got us in hot water!

Carol Albers (Pederson)

If you guys keep talking about the Biker Chicks,  Patty and I might have to do our pantomime to "Alvin and the Chipmunks".   We have our choice of lovely tunes from them.   Trust me, you dont want that!

07/12/12 09:15 PM #171

Sandy Wachs (Oldham)

I vote for your performance of 'Alvin and the chipmunks' for the reunion!  We need some entertainment.

07/12/12 09:37 PM #172

Patricia McCarthy (McCarthy)

Ya know, I can almost see that happening!!! Lets's see, do you still have your chipmunk costume????(teehee,Yeah, me either.)

I took my grandsons, age 12 and  8 to see the Chipmunks' movie. " I told them about our 9th grade escapade. (How did we get ourselves into that??).  I got blank stares!!!! No telling what pictures were running thro their little heads.

Garry Sellers

The Biker Babes (okay Marilyn, Biker Chicks) and/or Chipmunks may be asked for an encore so here's the other part of those spooky girls.  I still think they should have been in "Carrie" or "Texas Chainsaw Massacre Parts 1-13" !  I think the dress/skirt  in the video is a little short and terribly risque but I'd kill for that guy's shirt!  (I can't swear to it but I think I dated her and was dumped just like this poor guy.  No wonder I'm so fragile.)

07/13/12 08:09 PM #174

Patricia McCarthy (McCarthy)

OK, Garry, if I can find that shirt, will you wear it to the "party"?

07/13/12 08:50 PM #175

Garry Sellers

Ya Pat, probably .......maybe .....I'll think about it .... but you have to promise to keep your hands to yourself!
