This message forum is an ongoing discussion about anything and just about everything ... within reason.  One thing our class was good at was having opinions.  Almost 70 years of life experience certainly qualifies us as experts on most everything!   Ask a question ... give an opinion ... share some insights ... it's our web site, it's our forum.  That said, it's probably not a good idea to get into arguments about politics, religion, and the like.  While we're experts on everything, we also have a wide range of values and beliefs. This site belongs to all of us ... the whole range ... and we are not here to isolate, alienate, or subjugate anybody.  Of course insults, humiliation, sophomoric barraggadocio, and demented humor is expected behavior among some of us less mature people.

The PACK is back (we hope).

The Pack is Back?  Must be freezing then in Wisconsin, right?  Don't they bring cold weather? Let's see, high tomorrow in Milwaukee ... 49.  We're still playing baseball here in California and it has to be warm.  High tomorrow in northern California ... maybe 100 or 100+ out by Melody!  Are the Brewers still ... of, I forgot ... they stopped playing in August.  Sorry.  Isn't that new Packer stadium covered and heated?  Hmmmm ... real planners up that way!

To cover or otherwise mess with the ambiance of Lambeau Field would be a sacrilege - even from a CA point of view.

Jeanne Zinser (Gottschalk)

Right on, Jim! Besides, who wants to play football (or do ANYTHING for that matter) in 100° heat? I'll take tomorrow's 49° over that any day!

I think Mother Nature turned her calendar BACK one month instead of forward after September!

Garry, yes, we are trying to set a record high out here in Woodland, CA.  Today it was 98; tomorrow 99 (or 100, we will see) and Sun, another 98...or so they say.  Let you know Monday how hot it got.

As usual, we had extreme change of weather again.  Back to the jackets!   Snow up nort, according to my sister.  I am ABSOLUTELY not ready for this.  And, I already had a fall - broke my left wrist.  First broken bone in 70 years - pretty sad.  Patty McCarthy, McCarthy & I look like the Bopsey Twins with our casts!!

I know the winter weather has arrived in Wisconsin - our niece east of LaCrosse posted a photo on Facebook of snow on the ground when she went out to feed her little horses this morning. Meanwhile it is beautiful, sunny and warm here in the South Bay area. Squirrels going crazy burying acorns. Lots of little holes to fill. All of my classmates in casts: now that I have reached the big seven-oh, I must be more careful. Fell off a ladder trimming a high hedge, and was sore for 2 weeks; but it could have been a broken bone!

Garry--

Although I may regret it, I, as an extremely loyal Milwaukee Brewer fan who follows EVERY game, must disagree with you. The Brew Crew may have stopped WINNING games in August. But they definitely did NOT stop PLAYING in August. It was obvious to anyone who follows the team and really knows the game that there wasn't a single player who gave up, rode out the season, and merely collected a paycheck. Passionate? Yes, I am! But I'm also realistic, and it's quite easy to tell when players don't seem to care. Such is NOT the case with the Brewers. So, now that our team is out of the running, my loyalties go to the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Dodgers (who I desperately want to eliminate the Cardinals!). After that, it's Giants all the way!

OK, here are the finals for this weekend.  Friday, 97.  Saturday, 99. Sunday, 98. Monday, 95.

No triple digit, no broken records.  Low 90's this coming weekend, lucky us!

Good to hear it's finally cooling off up there, Melody.

I'm absolutely delighted that the SF Giants took care of the Cardinals and sent them back to St. Louis! As a loyal Milwaukee Brewer fan, I hold NO love for the Cards. In this area of the country, the cry "Damn Yankees!" has been replaced by "Damn Cardinals!" Now, Giants, on to K.C. and kick some more butt!

Here's where I wish the Message Forum had a 'like" button, Jeanne! I think fan vibes coming from different geographical locations have a stronger effect on the outcome. The Brewers and the Pack get a lot of those because of all the displaced Wisconsinites all over the country - exemplified by the Custer Class of '62. It was wonderful to see our classmates all bathed in sunshine for the 2014 Reunion Picnic. I sure hope to make one of those one of these years. Looks like the rain we were supposed to get  passed us pretty much over, but meanwhile, my tomatoes are loving the warm sunshine: picked 3 more whopper beefsteaks this morning!

Here Terri, does this help?

I thought that this forum was the best way to get this news out.  Richard Phillips, my first husband and the father of my two sons, is in hospice in Milwaukee.  He was disappointed that he could not be at the picnic, but he was feeling pretty bad that week.  He asked me not to tell anyone at that time, but now I can.  He is dying of cancer and is not expected to live more than a week.

I am asking for prayers for him and for his wife (Kathy #2) that he is out of pain and that she is able to adjust to life without her husband of over 35 years.  My sons are with him most of the time and they are having a rough time, also.

Kathy,

Good note. Sad to hear that. Even ex-es deserve our prayers.

Well, it looks as if drought relief is coming to northern California - just in time for Saturday's World Series game. After all these dry days, we are happy to get it, but why not when the Giants were in K.C.?

My prayers go out to Richard and your family.

my prayers also, Kathy.   especially for your sons.     I have done Hospice volunteering for over ten years, and am so hoping it is true there also.      Hospice gives dignity, serenity; comfort.   Blessings.   Joy
