This message forum is an ongoing discussion about anything and just about everything ... within reason.  One thing our class was good at was having opinions.  Almost 70 years of life experience certainly qualifies us as experts on most everything!   Ask a question ... give an opinion ... share some insights ... it's our web site, it's our forum.  That said, it's probably not a good idea to get into arguments about politics, religion, and the like.  While we're experts on everything, we also have a wide range of values and beliefs. This site belongs to all of us ... the whole range ... and we are not here to isolate, alienate, or subjugate anybody.  Of course insults, humiliation, sophomoric barraggadocio, and demented humor is expected behavior among some of us less mature people.

Oh, Garry! Would that I were "techie" enough to get this into my e mail inbox.......to lift up a few of my favorite Charlie Brown types, and also to reward the (thank goodness for them) Snoopies. Thank you!

Nancy--

On my iPad, a simple "copy and paste" does the trick. If YOU have an iPad, just hold your finger on the graphic and two words will show up--"copy" and "save." If you merely want to copy it into an email (or wherever), choose "copy," then go to your chosen document and touch the screen to see the word "paste." Press "paste" and the graphic should appear.

Hope this helps.

Jeanne

Jim, I just noticed your mention that we're hogging all the rain in Louisiana. Not in our area! We didn't get any rain for over a month and much of what we did see would have barely filled your "California Rain Gauge." It finally began raining a little over a week ago. Fortunately, it didn't come down in torrents and actually has soaked in pretty well. Until that began, we were >11" below average. The last I heard, we're now about 5" below average. We're normally used to hot, muggy days during the summer, but we were seeing 10-15% humidity for several weeks. We didn't complain about that part, but worried that our woods would catch fire and cause a California style conflagration! We're happy to hear that you're finally getting some rain, too! When we heard of the mud slides and such, we wondered if that was in your area. Hope none of our friends were downhill from those.

In future generations, students of Philosophy will be studing the works of Aristotle, Confucius, Descartes, Locke, and . . . Snoopy.

Just think how much fun it would have been in shop class if we would have had 3-D printers back then. "Machine, make me a pump lamp," and mine would probably have worked. And, I wouldn't have blown up Breckenfelders plate thing on the lathe.

I want to thank all my Wisconsin friends for providing me with such a warm welcome this passed week.  No wait, first I had to go buy a raincoat, then I had to buy a couple of sweaters and yesterday I bought boots, scarf, gloves and a windshield scraper!  And I needed all of it today!  It was a lovely winter wonderland but only because I'm leaving it Tuesday!!!  I have, however, enjoyed my half hour showers and letting the water run while brushing my teeth.

Garry,

Wisconsin was happy to have you back, if only for a short time. You're welcome to come back often!

Garry, you  are returning to a little bit of rain and an extreme cold front coming Wed. Don't put that winter stuff away too soon!

Garry--should have stayed in Wisconsin. We like you here! Would have been delighted to welcome you in Menomonee Falls!

Haven't been on here for a while. Lost my 'round tuit ' Judi and I won't need the flu shot this year. We're on the tail end of the flu. The squirrel brings back memories of Jan. 1962 when Milwaukee had 7 straight days of minus 20 degrees. But, since no records were actually broken, you don't hear about it , anymore.

Best show on television ... CBS's Sunday Morning.  Too bad it comes on at 6:00 a.m. in California.  Today one of the features was my favorite musical group, The Piano Guys, two very humble Mormon guys who think their most important job is being Dads.  They are awesome in concert and a huge hit on YouTube.  Here's an interesting version of "This is Your Fight Song" combined with "Amazing Grace".  (Best viewed full page.)

Many thanks, Garry, for posting this video. What a spectacular pairing of songs ("Amazing Grace" always bringing a lump to my throat) in an equally spectacular setting of the northern Scottish Highlands. Having just been there this past June, I was delighted to be transported back to this Celtic wonderland of lochs, heather, bens, and bagpipes. Loved it!

Thank you Garry,  the music was up lifting.  Now I want to hear more of the Panio Guys, need to order the CD.

Thanks, again

Thanks for the Home Page memories. Schuster's !! They made the BEST potato salad that you could bring home in a little white carton with wire handles - it went GREAT with Usinger weiners.

Woodracks are full and the lights are on the tree. Unfortunately, though, lights are shining on green grass - not a snowflake has fallen, so we have to look at last year's photo and wait.

Happy Holidays to all!

I loved the memories from Capitol Court - I remember the beautiful chime carols the tree used to play. My most treasured Christmas decoration is my Billie the Brownie. He's waiting patiently here for me to get the tree up.

Is "The Pig" still open?.  I remember fond memories circling the place....checking out who's cars were there.

It's sad when reading he newspaper seeing all the "goings on" happening in Milwaukee.  They sure have the Police Chief on "Fox" a lot...is he as strict as he sounds???

Gary,   Thanks for the info regarding the "Pig" closing!  As you can tell, I don't keep up with the Milwaukee news, although I do see Milwaukee's sheriff on Fox once in awhile!  I don't see me moving back to Milwaukee at any time....I enjoy watching the deer roam about as well as the other "critters" we have in our area.  We do manage to get to "warmer" places in the Winter for awhile (although so far this year it's been in the 50's instead of the usual 20's or 30's! )  We live about 45 miles from LaCrosse, which is a beautiful area too.  Again, thanks for the update on one of our old hangouts!  Merry Christmas and have a Great New Year!

Hi Everyone,

I don't get to read the Message Forum very often, but when I do I sure enjoy all the comments and especially our history.  Thanks over and over to Garry for maintaining the site and always making it fascinating, funny, and enlightening!!!

We had many rescue dogs & cats in past years and then moved on to try purebreds - the only way I could convince Ken to keep having pets.  After 14 years our beloved Abyssinian cats, brother & sister Teyo & Maya, became ill and left us.  Ken and I decided it would be fun to have Siamese kittens, my other favorite breed, and acquired 2 12-week-old brothers, Chai and Mocha.  What were we thinking?  They are so much fun and absolutely adorable, but OMG, they climb everything and demand our constant attention.  I had to close the doors to my office just to type this - otherwise they love walking on my keyboard and chasing everything on the computer screen.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

By the way, this year Ken and I celebrated 40 years of running our business together, 50 years of marriage, and my 70th birthday.

So nice to know that many of you are celebrating 50 years of marriage now or soon.
