This message forum is an ongoing discussion about anything and just about everything ... within reason.  One thing our class was good at was having opinions.  Almost 70 years of life experience certainly qualifies us as experts on most everything!   Ask a question ... give an opinion ... share some insights ... it's our web site, it's our forum.  That said, it's probably not a good idea to get into arguments about politics, religion, and the like.  While we're experts on everything, we also have a wide range of values and beliefs. This site belongs to all of us ... the whole range ... and we are not here to isolate, alienate, or subjugate anybody.  Of course insults, humiliation, sophomoric barraggadocio, and demented humor is expected behavior among some of us less mature people.

No doubt, they were! Celebrity Jeopardy is so much like the parody of it on Saturday Night Live it is very entertaining. But Aaron Rodgers didn't do too badly :-)

Hi! We have nothing about Jeopardy --

We returned a couple of weeks ago from our first trip back to Wisconsin in about three years. We spent about two weeks visiting family and friends, including five of our seven grandkids who live in and around Waukesha. We also helped celebrate our eldest son's (Class of '83)  50th birthday and enjoyed two other visits with Custer grads. We had lunch with Ken Rabas ('62) at the Milwaukee Art Museum during our only excursion into the big city. He's helping the owner restore an old Victorian home not far from the lake.

After a loop around the state, visiting relatives, we stopped at their lakeside home near Wautoma and celebrated the 51st anniversary of Dan & Janet Farchione.('61) with them. We really went big time at the local Culver's! I still remember their wedding and later a reception at the Bluemound Bowl. We're happy to report all are doing great!

Hope y'all have fun at the Machine Shed. We went past it several times and wished there was some way our schedule could have included the picnic dates, but that won't happen this year.

Bill & Mary

We're avid watchers of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. I think that everyone likes to yell " you dummy " at the TV during W of F. I like Jeopardy, because some of the questions require some thought, to answer. I usually get about half of the questions. I would get more; but, I always get a case of CRS when it's on.

I've been to the Machine Shed a couple of times. The food isn't bad and it has an interesting decor. But, I will miss it this year.

Culver's frozen custard ins't bad; but, you can't beat Kopps.

I like the old Victorian and Queen Anne houses. In that vein, I've always wanted to tour the Pabst mansion on Wisconsin Av; but, somehow, never have. But, I have toured Villa Terrace. My Dad some plumbing work on Villa T. when he first started working at A.O. Smith. When L.B. Smith found out that a new hire had plumbing experiance; my Dad punched in and then went back out to the gate, where L.B.'s chauffer picke dhim up and drove him to where his new mansion ( Villa Terrace ) was being built. My Dad's plumbing apprentice sponser cut him loose just before he was to take his Journeyman's test.

One last word for those of you who like Victorian houses, if you get the chance to take the behind the scenes tour of Villa Louis on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River; it's well worth the time and money. Check it out on the Wiscinsin Historical Society's site.

Really enjoyed the "How to Age Gracefully" video. Jon & I both shared it on Facebook.

Nice video, but how can I age gracefully if I was never graceful to begin with?

Nancy Davison (Boerger)

Jim, I so hear you. Look at photos of Sophia Loren, Lauren Bacall, et al and hear the viewers coo, "Look at how gracefully she aged; look how beautiful at age ___________!" . Right. Had I looked like Sophia Loren at age 30, I might have done the same.

In the meantime, our four year old grand daughter touches my cheek and pronounces, " Gammies, you're crinkly". And I love it.

OK, Nancy, so Sophia and Lauren B look(ed) good later. Arnold Schwartzengovernor looks like a wax statue left in a hot sun too long. Must be a guy thing. I always felt like the gym class klutz. Graceful wasn't (still isn't) in my vocabulary.

Once again the Reunion Committee came up with a wonderful reunion!  Many thanks for a good day of fun, laughter, visiting & good food!  Good to see everyone that attended.

Thanks again!

We enjoyed the update on the class "picnic" and hope there will be more pictures posted soon. Congrats to Kenny Rabas on winning the Door County trip. That should be some relief from the remodeling projects. Hope the weather cooperates and they have a fun time. Knowing Kenny, I'm sure he didn't cheat!

Oh sure Wisconsin Reunion Committee, anyone can throw a fun party when you have water to serve.

In Woodland, CA, we have a street lined with beautiful Victorian homes.  The yellow one has a full sized original carousal horse in the breakfast room in the back which faces west with the setting sun.  When their roses are in bloom it is fantastic.  These pictures were taken in the winter. (The only way we know it is winter is because the roses sleep and some trees are bare)

How about our Packers!!!  What a game last night!  Go Pack!!!

Geez, Garry. If you came all the way out here to take a picture of my house, you should have stopped in. We'd been happy to share a glass of our water ration with you, or even refresh the water in the toilet, just for you.

That pic is a week or so old though. We've since put the gutters back up in anticipation of El Nino.

I have heard rumors about a Custer Class of '62 Facebook page, but cannot find it. When I do a search on Facebook, I get all kinds of other Custer sites, but not a Class of '62. Is there some kind of secret code, like  "Retsuc Sslac of '26"?

Terri. Facebook? Really? I have enough trouble figuring out Garry's page here sometimes.

Good morning everyone.  I heard on the news yesterday of a massive fight at Custer. Many individual fights and injuries. One pregnant girl being loaded into an ambulance kicked a pregnant first responder. Evidently lasted quite a while. Sad to see this happening after so many good memories. Cool this morning about 39 but will warm up soon.

Mitch,

I did some digging about the fight at the Barack Obama high school; Custer Senior High School no longer exists. Here is the JournalSentinel article on it.

(Fixed it for you. Now you can go directly to the article. GS)

I dug too and in a couple of articles I saw they also referred to it as "the old Custer High School."

Change of subject.  I would be glad to share the 15 + " of rain we have had in my Charleston neighborhood since last Thursday with some of you California folks. Still raining and expected to until Monday afternoon.   An Ark would be helpful at this time.  Sorry we missed the mini reunion.  We were on our way home but did manage to check out a Buffalo Trace distillery on the Bourbon Trail in KY that Sat.   Interesting tour

.

While we're on the topic of water . . .

I was at an antiques store today and saw a couple of baskets like the one's we put our stuff in when we changed to swim at McGovern Park. Even had the little numbers on them. Brought back those memories, like convincing myself that 69 degree water  was warm enough to swim in, putting all my stuff in that little basket - and finding it there when I was done, the mandatory shower-just enough to look sort of wet, and the foot imspections. (Wonder how that would look on your resume. Summer job - watched people spread their toes at a large neighborhood swimming pool.)

Is that your golf outfit Garry?

Football season, and I was just thinking about our old Custer fight song, sung on many a band bus trip: (Sung to Notre Dame's football song.)

"Beer, beer for old Custer High

You bring the whiskey, I'll bring the rye

Send the freshmen out for gin

And don't let a sober sophomore in.

We never stagger, we never fall

We sober up on wood alcohol

While the loyal faculty

Lies down in the study hall."

OK, so now that we're old enough to have drunk all that stuff, was it as much fun as we thought?

I recently made a trip to Wisconsin for the wedding of my great niece, Melissa. It was held at Lake Geneva. After that I traveled up "nort" to Crivitz with my brother. We spent a very nice week there. Unfortunately it was the week of the Custer, ummm, Barrack Obama High School class picnic. I hope all of you had a great time.

Talked to Peter Kronschnabl while in Milwaukee. Unfortunately we were unable to hook up.

I experienced a heart attack in August. Not to worry!. It is hard to put an old marine down. I did, however, check the "In Memory" page to see if Gar(r)y accidentally put my name in there on purpose.

I think that at least the CRASS members and other CA based alumni should indulge in thinking or posting negative thoughts regarding Ms McCarthy's Texas, or maybe that Louisiana Nelson, for hogging all that rain that we could sure use here. I know everyhing is bigger in Texas, but like, I mean, once an entire city or county becomes a lake, why not share?

I'm always reluctant to use our Forum as a way to grab "air time" for myself ... but I just had to post this one!!!  I think Snoopy's got it just about right.

(Jim is out dancing in his yard because most of us have gotten a half to an inch of rain today!  Only 70 or so to go before we can take a shower again!  Thank you Patricia, Jan, Beverly and other Custer Texans for sending one small cloud our way.)
